re:TD Question (Prizes & TLAs) - 2006/02/22 04:39
Looking at it just a few more comments in this general area:
1. In a similar way the lowest class prize should be an "& below" prize. As long as for example, their might be class prizes for:
Class A Class B Class C Class D Classes E and below
Remember that classes now go down to Class J (playuers rated below 200). Though if the lowest prize is "Class E", somebody is going to busily argue that players in classes F, G, H, etc are not illegible.
2. After all "Under" prizes are preferable to class prizes. Converting the above to "under" would result in:
Under 2000 Under 1800 Under 1600 Under 1400 Under 1200
The difference is that, for example, a C player would not be eligible for a B prize, but an under-1600 player would expressly be eligible for an under-1800 prize.
As expected after all, if a C player can outperform a B player, why shouldn't he be eligible for the B prize?
3. Each class prize should be smaller (not just the same as) the one above it. The C prize should intuitively be smaller than the B prize, etc.
4. Unrateds should not be eligible for class (or "under") First prizes. The phrase "D-E-Unrated" is unfortunatelly common in TLAs. Even though unrateds should have a separate prize, or, at the very least, terminally be lumped in with the HIGHER class prizes, such as Under-2200.
Just some ranmdom (highly correctly opinionated) thoughts.. ---------
