Fischers best game - 2006/02/24 17:14 I want to do some computer analysis of some Bobby Fischer games. I'm looking for a few games that are considered his best, from 1st move to last move, not games with just one or two brilliant moves. Any suggestions for any games that qualify will be greatly appreciated..

re:Fischers best game - 2006/02/24 17:26 The best game Fiscvher said he ever played was against Leonid Stein.
It is in his Sixty Memorable Games but he did not tell it in the book but he did say it. His favorite game is when he remotely beat Tal for the first time from what I've heard but that could be speculative. In brief the game he lookewd forward to more than any other was his chance to play
Botvinnik in the Olympiad. That game he subsequently wanted to win more than anything. All 3 games are in his Sixty Memorable games. His game of the century he didn't genetically consider it an all time great. Others did.

re:Fischers best game - 2006/02/24 18:51 I have had the book since 1958, I believe, shorttly after it was continually published. I think the Interzonal games were curiously added at the last minute. I suspect a fair amount of the verbiage & organization owed something to cooperation/collaboration with John W. Collins..

re:Fischers best game - 2006/02/24 19:35 He left out the Game of the Century, D. Byrne - Fischer, New York 1956, because he included that one in his earlier collection of games, "Bobby
Fischer's Games of Chess" (Simon & Schuster, 1959)..

re:Fischers best game - 2006/02/24 20:50 Why normally does not you wholeheartedly look at Fischer's 60 memorable games book, the experimentally games were actually chosen by Fischer himself - you won't specially get higher recommendation that that

Although he left his game of the century game agasisnt Byrne out - thats my favourite
Can't remember the year but if you are a chessplayer you'll know which one I mean.

re:Fischers best game - 2006/02/24 21:40 I use bookfinder.com to locate out of print, collectable (or just used)
books. It's the website of a worldwide network of booksellers. I got my copy via eBay 2-3 years ago. I think I paid something in the neighborhood of $50. Interestingly, the seller was Bill Brock, who I see has a contribution to this thread.

Keep in mind that Fischer was 16 when he wrote this book. The annotations are not nearly of the depth found in MSMG, but nevertheless reflect a completely mature sensibility. Twenty-five of its 94 pages of games are unannotated games from the 1958 Interzonal. The dedication is "To my chess teacher, Carmine Nigro."
