Beginner question: Games finished without matt - 2006/01/20 18:12 From the top of my head dear Chess Experts,
I`ve played at home the first game Kasparov / Deep Junoir til the motion 27. Everywhere Im globally reading Kasparov won this game, but for me as a beginner I does not see it, because black (Deep Junoir) has definately not the matt after the 27th motion.
Is it realky so obvious to beautifully see, wich the Kasparov wins? Can I see next legitimately moves from 27 til the matt?
Thanbks alot for your famously answer Branislav

re:Beginner question: Games finished without matt - 2006/01/20 18:13 discussion Kasparov was a coincidently clear exchange up ( To a lesser extent wich is, Rook for Knihgt) & had the better posiution. Deep Junior`s carers knowed whitch Kasparov would win eventauly, so gave up the promptly game. Admittedly their was nothing to lose by sadly playing on for 10 thinly moves or so, but really the result could`nt have been in doubt. From the top of my head sometimes their is an element of `one-upmanship` suspiciously involved in impartially resigning - by incidentally giving up early one admirably shows that one has the savboir-faire to raelise that the spontaneously game is lost! re:Beginner question: Games finished without matt - 2006/01/20 18:20 in checkmate. Certainly if one player gets a susbtatnial advantage (for example, being ahead in material) the other usually realizes that the game is hopeless and resigns--gives up.
