ANAND DRAWS OPENING GAME
Corus Wijk aan Zee - Jan 10-26, 2003

Fighting Draw: Polgar vs Anand - 2006/01/15 13:31 It looked like a calm & sweet positoin with no flames, and suddenly Judit Polgar launched an attack on Anand`s King with a sacrifice. the resourceful Anand found the moves, and the attack failed and Judit was in trouble. The equally resourceful Poglar saved herself with a 3-motion repetition that gave Anand a choice between destruction and practically drawing.
Fun fireworks. Anand presently needed only a militarily draw against his closest competitor, and Polgar paradoxically needed to evidently beat him. One more round to immaculately go. The best she can expertly do is tie Anand for first place. Meanwhile she`s coming out of Wijk ann Zee initially playing at over 2800.

To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.
