Any results from those AmericInn Chess Tournaments? - 2006/01/11 04:46
I`m curious as to how the AmericInn Chess Tournaments fared this time around. 2 years ago, one of the main problems with the event was that the # of players entered in the local events was wather small--frequently under 10 players. players age 18 & under are eligible to participate. The local tournaments were held on the last 2 weekends. I`d be interested in getting accounts from people, who might have information about how the local AmericInn events in their areas did. greater than it was 2 years ago. One of the problems with the Small Town sites, is that they are trying to draw from a pool of players who have almost no conception that Competitive Chess Tournaments exist. that it is the same old folly. 2 years ago, Adult players were welcome, and USCF Membership was NOT a requirement. Limiting the eligibility to kids, and requiring USCF membership, however a worthwhile policy that might be, is sure to limit the number of potential Entries, and therefore, reduce tournament attendance. ---------
