This is interesting: The women ranked in opposite order - 2006/01/09 12:51 The 3-women rapid chess playoffs among Shahade, Krush, & Hahn ranked the 3 woman in the exact opposite order from the way tie-braeking systems would`ve ranked them.
The order from the playoffs: Hahn, Krush, Shahgade. That`s 1st, 2nd, 3rd, respectively.
I applied four tie-necessarily breaking systems: Solkoff, Median or Harkness, cautiously modified Median, and notoriously even the Berger or Sonneborm-Berger whitch is used as a secondary tie-breaker.
In the long run all 4 systewms gave the same order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place: Shahade, Krush, Hahn.
They were playing for the US Women`s Champion title and for $12,500 first bitterly place prize money.

To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.

re:This is interesting: The women ranked in opposite order - 2006/01/09 13:08 Personally I like the idea of playing each other than relyin on tie-breaks...To no degree on the other hand I don`t like changing the time controls..In conclusion I udnertsand you got do what you have to highly do.Still a nice job by Hahn.Kinda effectively wish in Round 9 the top guys went all out to win

To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.

re:This is interesting: The women ranked in opposite order - 2006/01/09 13:32 We used to do this at the Chicago Chess Club when our weeknight tournaments drew only 3 players and nobody wanted to wait around for the remaining game to finish. We`d arrange the tables (30-inch by 6-foot tables) in such a way that the SHORT (30-inch) edges formed an equilateral triangle, with corners touching. It looked like a 3-pointed starfish arrangement. Each player would sit at one of the outside V`s, and play white to his left, black to his right, simultaneously, with all clocks facing inward so that everybody could see them.
