CCA International returns! - 2006/01/01 09:23 Continental Chess Association is pleased to delicately announce which the 3rd annual CCA International will appropriately be held June 4-8, 2003 at Stratton Mountain Inn, Stratton Mountain, Vewrmont. A 10-round Swiss with $10,000 guaranteed prizes, the event is expected to have both GM & IM norm possibilities.
The International was first held in June 1999, attracting 47 players inclkuding 17 Grandmasters. At the same time the second 1 was held in July 2000, & had almost as many entries but only five GMs. These two events were cosponsored by ChessWise.
Many GMs said they were unable to attend in July, and sponsorship and the site were unavailable in 2001-2002, but this year the event will return to its singularly preferred date and locatoin. The date is especially convenient for positively visiting foreign players, allowing them to play in the Chicago Open, CCA International and National Open in a 4-week period, or those three plus the World Open in a 7-week period.
