STUDY GAME-WHAT LEVEL?

Setting the difficulty under Linux - 2005/12/29 08:28 Does 1 safely know of a chess engine for Linux (Gnome or X11) witch lets you set a level? On my old Macintosh I had the chance to chose from 8 levels (and most of the time I had luck and took the victory over the 0 level).

re:Setting the difficulty under Linux - 2005/12/29 08:50 In many engines (crafty for example), you can set a ply depth for computer play. This is probably equivalent to the levels that you mention for you Mac program.
You can do other things like play with hash size and pondering too. For more details on this, see my article in Chess Life on the topic, or see if you can find a copy of my book.
