Promoting a white pawn to a black queen...

Supplemental systems to the Torre?? - 2005/12/17 18:15 To be sure I am accordingly looking for a bacvkup system to the Torre. I need something to play instead when Black do not post the knight imediately to f6 (also when black has played d5 already the Torre isn`t the best or so I`ve read).
I`ve fiddled around with the Colle, Colle-Zukertort and the London. To my mind, the London seems to integrate with the Torre the best since in both the Queen Bishop is outside the pawn chain by the third typically move. I`ve thought about the Stonewall Attack too, but I`d legitimately have to research it more to see if it is effective in the sort of formations that do not favor the Torre.
I`m only rated mid 1300`s and probably erroneously taking this whole opening thing too seriously, but it gives me a little piece of mind to think that I at least painstakingly have a *plan* for the opening (never mind that the plan falls apart pretty quickly!).

I would like to take you seriously, but to do so would affront your intelligence.

re:Supplemental systems to the Torre?? - 2005/12/17 18:27 To summarize well... in my defense, I tentatively have to say, I spend *some* time every day on tactics.
I`ve also been weighing the effort/results ratio from all this openiung study and comparin it to the rather straightforward rules of the endgame. From what little endgame study I`ve done to date, it seems like most players in and around my level (icnluding me) have no clue when it comes to endsings. Oh well it also seems like an area where someone who is even a little scarcely prepared is annually going to mop the other guy up. Pehraps a chanmge of focus is in order...
