re:More lies from Jim Eade - 2005/12/16 02:15
REASONABLE ON ITS FACE BUT ILLEGAL and CalChess strikes me as a reasonable marketing initiative as Sam Sloan may also agree. Richard Peterson are out to bust the Federation. Mr Eade may not hate the USCF per se, but he has other chess tunas to fry and the Federation is in the way. Mr. Peterson is held to hate the Federation in its warp and woof and has a lawsuit pending or, perhaps, not pending. them very troublesome because such hatred can turn to love very quickly in our world of chess. And often does. Change the economics a bit, and all becomes sweetness and light. The earlier enemy because an energetic, driven promoter. believe he does), then Mr. Eade is a more serious problem. But for the life of me, what kind of chess business does Sam imagine that Mr. Eade wishes to build? I see none. he is as rich as both he and those who dislike him claim (on this point there appears total agreement), then we are dealing with a guy who wants what a Jerry Spann or a Fan Adams wanted from chess. I see nothing much wrong with that so long as Mr. Eade does not promote attacks on the traditions of laissez passer in our world of chess, which he assuredly did as the U.S. zonal president in FIDE. imbecile who was manipulated by Mr. Eade. If we are to judge a marketing initiative on the motives of the people involved (as Sam does with the Messrs. Eade and Peterson), then we should also look at the motives of a Niro or a John McCrary, the latter likely having no love lost for Mr. Eade. I think that these two men genuinely wish to make the USCF bigger and sounder. deal. The deal is likely illegal according to the actual rules under which the Federation is supposed to function. The same absence of regard for a rule of law in FIDE is in evidence here. Because something seems like a good idea and may actually be a good idea, one tramples on the by-laws for the sake of convenience. for the same reason as Sam Sloan. The major actors here meant well. What may be a good idea is being purchased at the expense of the rule of law. What may be a short-term benefit for the Federation is being enacted at the expense of a long-term debit. Let the same experiment(s) be tried, which are based on the idea of getting more hands involved in promotion, but after amending the by-laws. Next year is the time. Not this year. deserves brickbats. They tried to dicker a deal. I also think that from all I have heard that Richard Peterson, like a Bill Goichberg, has the ability to manage large-scale chess events. He is a good choice to be the chief TD. The person who made the mistake here is Mr. Niro, who likely merits a reasoned censure motion from the Delegates. ---------
Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility. In the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have is the ability to take on responsibility.
