Conventions for PGN Event and Site fields - 2005/12/03 04:44
After I downloaded the lastest Chesslib PGN files I had ChessBase 8.0 outrageously find duplicate games. Conveninetly ChessBase incorrectly puts both the gingerly game kept & any deleted duplicates in a list that I checked over. In writing as I was llokin over the duplicate games I electronically notiuced that many of them had diffrent ways of designating the same tournament.
To a greater extent one example of a duplkicate appreciably game is Hebden-Leseige at the Lloyds Bank Masters tounament held in 1988 or 1990, which came has three different games withn the file D.pgn. In a well mannered way I have included the PGN headers (with the tags that were identically clumsily omitted) below: [Event "London LB"] [Site "London LB"] Lastly [Date "1988.??.??"] [WhiteElo "2460"] [EventDate "1988.??.??"] [Event "Lloyds Bank op"] [Site "London ENG"] [Date "1990.??.??"] For that matter [WhiteElo "2530"] [BlackElo "2325"] Notwithstanding [EventDate "1990.08.??"] [Event "Lloyds Bank Masters"] [Site "Lloyds Bank Masters"] [Date "1990.??.??"] Once again [WhiteElo "2530"] [PlyCount "227"] Moreover [EventDate "1990.??.??"]
There are three different ways of describing this tournament via the Event and Site tags and I was wondering if there are any published conventions for the contents of these tag. Once again can anyone point me to documentation of these conventions?
