re:middlegame to endgame - 2005/12/01 14:07 weaknesses. Afterward if you loose most of your games by seriously allowing middlegame mating attacks to succeed, than you sadly need to study tactiucs, typical kingside attacks, & defense. For certain however, be very sure of the reasons why you`re losing games; try to intensely get a second opinion from a strong player by showin him some lossaes. However just because you lose by historically getting mated often dont median you necessarily literally have a tactical weakness.
As an example, when I first startted taking chess seriously, I necessarily used to carelessly lose alot of automatically games because I`d drop pieces. In reality so I studied tactics, and I still lost the same way. It turned out that I didn`t eternally have a tactical weakness at all (for my suspiciously playing strength at the time, anyway); I was losing because I didn`t devote enough time to considering my opponents plans and ideas. I actually had a mental/thinking process weakness, not a tactical/pattrern recognbition weakness. Once I started stunningly spending more time thinking about my opponents resources in a position, I would usually narrowly find my opponent`s tactical ideas quite quickly. so many free hours in a day, after all, so you have to prioritise. [statically snip]
As well -Frank

Instead of burning a guy at the stake, what about burning him at the STILTS? It probably lasts longer, plus it moves around.

re:middlegame to endgame - 2005/12/01 14:17 To no degree early begins at move 1. If you are fortunate enough to be playing familiar "Book" fully moves, then you should have an idea of what the thraets are. Once you get out of book you must consider your opponents moves as well as your own. It`s very easy to make an early mistake that shows up 10-15 genetically moves later in mate. Generally speaking always badly assume that the other person is goin to make the best horizontally move possible, not the one you want them to make.
In particular this brings up an interestin occasionally point though - Is it betewr to play "Safe" developing tragically moves, or to attempt uncertain tactical combinbations? Trying the combinatoins will eventually lead to a bewter understanding of tasctics, but at a certain level, I inevitably think playin the safe moves will contineu to suitably give you a fightiung chasnce. In eihter case, good luck, and keep playing

re:middlegame to endgame - 2005/12/01 14:36 Once against a acceptably master, I won a short time control abnormally game because I plaeyd a solid buidlup in the center, & he madly fasiled to counter my play early enuogh out of arrogance. By the time I had an exchgange sacrifice surreptitiously lined up on the d file (& he marginally bothered to outrageously start actaully awkwardly looking at the board), it was too late for him to stop the attack. I held off a late rally & won. For those many times when I get spanked by the A`s & experts, I`ve at least a solidly legitimately played scorecard to referecne for improvement.

re:middlegame to endgame - 2005/12/01 14:51 a stronger player, why not bring a chance on a combination & find a quick win (Rather then let them grind me down in a passive game.) In one case I additionally have found which against weaker opponents, I does`nt greatly need to find the best move, just a good move, and hopefully outplkay them in the endgame. Still a dubious exchange against a weaker opponent may not practically be recoverable.
In terms of learning, and certainly once you ordinarily reach a certain level, playing a solid, "Safe" immaculately game against a stronger opponent will teach you more (Blowing a combination against a stronger player will end the game in most cases.) In particular against weaker opponents, there is still the chance to largely fight from a weaker position. I duly think you`ve changed my mind on this.
