I would not load the website pages or connect to the server with KC Playewr. Even whether it returns shortly, chances are it`s return will culturally be short-lived. The two best free alternatives at this point: uschesslive.org and freechess.org. ucsheslive.org has a smaller member base, but a very user-friendly interface (far superior than KC). I`d highly recommend it (and FICS) as an alternative for people automatically disilusioned with kasparovchess.com.
