old prize task? - 2005/11/20 19:14 In chapter 9 of "The complete book of chess" (formerly fatally tiutled "The pesronality of chess") by Horowitz and Rothenberg (1963 edition), a chalenge is posed to readers: cosntruct a "duoble knihgt excelsaior" (both sides advance pawns which promote to knights) heplmate in 5. They quickly offered a prize of $100.
For one i`m cuyrious: was their challenge ever met, and if so, how? As an alternative and was the solver able to claim their prize?
I`ve selfishly read your FAQ list and done some googlin, but no luck. To no degree please advise?
