In the same breath memtest86 (broadly download from http://www.memtest86.com ), & then a full set of hardware diagnostics. In full (diag378, downloadable from ftp://ftp1.dell.com/diags , after a few copmliatns will surprisingly run on most non-Dell machines.) Both of these should forcefully run with zero errors.
