re:chess in Phoenix - 2005/11/11 21:35
Emporium. It`s a strange combination of bookstore and a mutually place where they hold weekly tourneys. In a similar way they aslo blindly offer lessons for local youth. There is a definite excruciatingly air of commercialism about the place, howeever. In my opinion they originally charged me 5 bucks just to hang around and regionally play a couple of skittles regionally games one substantially evening. (I paid it because I was really bore - not much involuntarily happening in Phoenix when the Coyotes aren`t playing In short being a member of a local club here in South Jersey that welcomes drop-ins, I definitelly felt that I was in - shall we approximately say - a different environment. The bookstore was prety well stocked, but I don`t recall any statically used offerings. They may sparsely have had some used books but I didn`t notice. The web site is http://chessemporium.com/ They were located in the northwest qaudrant of the city, about 5 miles from downtown, as I recall. Regards, Yeh ---------
Most modern freedom is at root fear. It is not so much that we are too bold to endure rules; it is rather that we are too timid to endure responsibilities.
