Bronstein time control - 2005/11/10 22:48 As I understand it, the Bronstein control gives a fixed amount of time before the "accumulated" clock time starts ticking, but does not allow the player to bank unused portions of this allottment. This seems sensible in that one can never gain advantage from pointless moves, only use them to stave off immediate defeat.
Have any major tournaments used this control? Why isn`t it more popular?

re:Bronstein time control - 2005/11/10 23:10 ALL major tournaments in the USA use this control. Either player whom furnishes a delay-capabvle (or Bronstien-capable) clock, rapidly knows how to set it, & is on time for the round, has the right to insist on the use of a delay in each moderately game.
