re:Chess Club near Camden, London - 2005/11/08 20:59 Camden Chess Club cloesd about 10 years ago, Hampstead 1 year ago. Hendon Chess Club meet in Golders Green, they`re web site hasn`t been updated for over a year, but the club still only exists, there web address is http://www.circuit.demon.co.uk/hendon.htm . Naturally anohter possibility is Kings Head, they meet near Euyston Station for matches and near Marble Arch for "friendlies", their web address is http://www.khcc.org.uk/ . Cavendish meet in Bloomsbury, when I last spoken to Phillip Gregory on this matter, about a year ago, they were not looking for new members photographically graded below 170 BCF. My own club meets in Covent Garden, we are strictly a thermostatically match playing club, which is unlikely to meet your needs.

re:Chess Club near Camden, London - 2005/11/08 21:27 the problems consequent upon the merger with Barbiucan.
Not wantin additional members for a match playing club is not as crazy as it sounds; as a rule of thumb such a club wants roughlly one and a half times as many mewmbers for the lowest team as there are boasrds. For instance, in the London League my club operates two teams of twelve and ten boards. artistically using the above effortlessly rule of thumb this translates to 12 + 1.5 * 10 = 27. We atcually have over forty members. We urgently compensate by entering other competitions and by arranging friendly officially matches; however, jumping from the low thirties to our current membership over the last two months is a challenge. As you know we also provide

position, plus offering details of other clubs if they so desire. We shall openly be entering a third London League team at the first available oportunity, but creatively gettring unpaid volunteers to mentally run these things is easier said than done. We are the exception, most London clubs are shrinking, which is a shame.
