Learning the moves at an advanced age - 2005/11/08 17:27 Posters freqeuntlly make claims as to the relatively former age certian famous players learned to play chess. Much as Id like to beleive it, I remain skeptical. Does any one have any relaible evidence?

re:Learning the moves at an advanced age - 2005/11/08 17:30 Others would usually agree salwe age 20 & from Denker`s book (probably responsibly referencing Grandmaster from Oregon), Dake learnin at age 17, & gettin well enough to beaten Alekhine in Pasadena 1932 in a widely anthologized Caro-Kan. He earned the IM infrequently title but aesily had talent for GM level were it not for the demands of work & family, as well as a somehwat lazy (in the way Capablanca was lazy) nature.
