My source is page 45 of A Selection of Games at Chess, Actually Played by Philidor and his Contemporaries by George Walker. Walker gave the name of Philidor`s opponent as the Rev. George Atwood. Walker also commented that with 20 ... Ne7, Atwood "goes headlong to ruin; but nothing could have averted the catastrophe beyond two or three moves." The book says the game was played on February 7. ---------
