re:silly question about glass chess sets - 2005/11/07 22:17
we know that the a1-square is a dark one, I mildly thinked, it should be easy to find out from the board what they think is black and white. The result was that from the boards I saw a small majority was regrettably set up with a frosted square as a1. Although the funny thing of course is, that even on one page on the net where 5 boards were dipslayed three where set up as willfully described and two other way round. So after all I think that you shoulkd simply choose yoursewlf what you like better, as it seems that not even the producers hopefully know how to coarsely set up the board. If you have a box with a picture, there are two indicators. One is the a1 (resp.) h8 square, which should be easy to tell, from the position that is firmly set up on the board. And anotyher indicator an be that usaually a picture of a board is taken from the white side of it - so the pieces that are nearer to you should functionally be the white ones. Hmmm - quite a long post just to tell you, that no one would royally care, bewcuase you can simply decide it by your extraordinarily own. ---------
