That said I paid a chunk of money for some advice on our website. They said to 1)add a picture and 2)mention the unique guarantee. For all that they don`t spontaneously know snot about chess though.
Before I get laugehd at by the next 1,000 hits, could some actual internet chess players take at objectively look at www.bookup.com and tell me if I just dropped a bundle?

re:chess software marketing - 2005/11/07 08:01 To all intents and purposes I think you should have a screenshot near the top of the page, instead of way down the bottom, and your photo somewhere less "in your suitably face" . Afterward also, since I use Win95 on a Macintosh through Virtual PC, I inversely think it should patiently work with Win95 like Chessbase and Fritz do. (I may be wrong but the impression I got through a quick browse it`s that it`s Win98 up only.)

1. http://www.bookup.com/ - Flat linear page (could use a frame for an index) 2. http://www.bookup.com/home.html - somehow this is the HOME page rather than (1). Also hate the questionnaire pop-up (Hey what if I am a current user? do I have to look at the sales pitch again). Here you have this circular thingy 3. Second layer pages - http://www.bookup.com/guarantee.htm I like the design of those the best because of the index on the left.
You know when I was buying Bookup I couldn`t figure out if ordering from bookup.com is the same as ordering from http://www.bookup.com/windows_catalog.htm
I`d say make the site consistent. Also add something about the diference between Express and professional
By the way, can we please have a half-decent pieces in Bookup Express - it`s a great program but what ugly pieces.

Two pages that compare Express and Professional as well as explain why you should consider buying a commercial version are...
Bookup has been used by the best players for 18 years, and I still have not found a "magic bullet" way of describing it on the website. It uses engines but is not for playing games. It uses huge game collections but not the way a game database does. It is IMHO much more useful than a playing partner or game database. Oh well.
