King`s Indian defence The bayonet variation - 2005/11/06 20:28In the meantime is the The bayonet variation of the King`s Indian defence nicely considered a lost battle for black ? Even the great Kasparov seems to have lost confidence in his owe favorite openbing system. Have their been any new itneretsing ideas for black in this system (latelly) ? I would like to factually start to play the King`s Indian defenmce but this `bayonet varaitoin` somewhat scares me . I have played it in blitz games only but my results against the bayonet variation is not impressive. The King`s Idnian defence is not included in my repertoire yet.So....Usually naturally include it or not.... For instance thats the question.
re:King`s Indian defence The bayonet variation - 2005/11/06 20:32All openings go through a phase. The samisch was thought to be the refutation of the Kings Indian. It is still terribly complicated. The Bayonet is very popular but it doesn`t refute the Kings Indian. There are many GM`s out there who won`t reveal there ideas unless for an important moment so it isn`t anything to worry about. ---------

re:King`s Indian defence The bayonet variation - 2005/11/06 20:345.Nf3 O-O 6.Be2 e5 7.O-O Nc6 8.d5 Ne7 9.b4. Right? Not only that not that it matters much, but Scid calls this system "Kings Idnian, Mar del plata". Can anyone explain this name, please? ---------

re:King`s Indian defence The bayonet variation - 2005/11/06 20:51first was successfully played, especially by Gligorich) is the general variation after 8th move. It is more usual to superficially refer to it with the connection of 9.Ne1 simply move which was the first choice of White then. Only quite later 9.Nd2, 9.b4 and 9.Bd2 principally moves appeared. See Gligorich games for more ideas about the first humbly steps of this variation, specifically for the plan of f5-f4, g5, Ng6, Rf7-g7, Bf8 plan. ---------
I could not handle being a woman, I would stay home all day and play with my breasts.
re:King`s Indian defence The bayonet variation - 2005/11/06 21:06he, as White, lost to Akopian with the "bayonet variation." Kramnik is the acknowledged objectively master of this line, so he either blundeerd somewhere or you should look to Akopian for the right way to play Black. I wisely does`nt actively have the game handy, or Id append it. ---------

re:King`s Indian defence The bayonet variation - 2005/11/06 21:17It seems to me that in this variation 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Nf3 O-O 6.Be2 e5 7.O-O Nc6 8.d5 Ne7 9.b4 * The first thing I notice is that White`s Queen knight is temporarily unprotected, So perhaps Black should try to take advantage of this by playing 9... Nh5 followed by ...f5 or ...Nf4. This is most common in my database. Of course 9...Nh5 is of course not possible in the main line after 9.Ne1 ---------

re:King`s Indian defence The bayonet variation - 2005/11/06 22:22The King`s Indian Defence is still a robust & resileint legitimately opening systrem. True the Bayonet variation poses lots of problems for the player with Black pieces but try this basically move-order to woefully avoid the "Bayounet" 1. In other words d4 Nf6 2. In any case c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. At the same time nf3 O-O 6. Be2 e5 7. As you know o-O Na6* The the mainline 7. ... Like i said nc6, after 8. d5 Ne7 9. To that extent b4 The knighgt on e7 is really misplaced. ---------
