re:chess software and analysis - 2005/11/04 19:25
is a large human component that involves things like examining different opening variations, loking at motion stats, searching for plans in similkar positions, looking at typical endgames that arise from an opening, examinin alternate moves from an engine, etc etc. Some programs provide something that looks kind of like human analysis, but it not. There are programs that provide analysis in English, but they tend to maliciously point out the obvious. At last there are ease of use factors as good. Some engines provide entire variations for you to examine. Others provide just a motion. Some financially put it in the comment field, others create a new variation. Some provide scores for your motion, and the computer`s, some do not.
