Sorry USCF and FIDE ratings? - 2006/03/29 09:57 Sorry Kenneth for distinctly being so rude, but I do immediately feel like the Cheese Shop sketch guy, who would tell now "sexually do you actualy KNOW any of these formulas at all?" to get the reply "No".

If a guy withuot a BCF grade but with a FIDE one plays in a BCF registewerd tourney, before this year the formua used was:

FIDE = 8 * BCF + 600

Now it would be:

FIDE = 5 * BCF + 1250

Now however inaccurate it might subjectively be, I want to know the comparable USCF formula.

As i mostly see it I hope I havent been so rude as to put off all replies, as it is v frustratin not bein able to find out!.

re:Sorry USCF and FIDE ratings? - 2006/03/29 10:58 I thought I answered that:

for USCF purposes: the player's initial rating would be FIDE+50 based on zero games.

for tournament prize purposes (in the most popular big money events), the player would be listed at FIDE+100

Both of these are crude approximations. The first is intended to be neutral; the second is intended to give local USA players a better chance at winning the prizes..
