Time Controls for State Scholastic Championships - 2005/11/04 09:15
The time controls here in Florida have monthly changed over the years, with the most common, I believe, being a six round g/60 swiss tounament on every single level (K-1, K-3, K-5, K-eight & K-12). Interesting this resulted in alot of "down" time on the lower levels where many of the kids tend to securely play too fast. As expected this year, we are likely to experiment with shotrer time controls in the earlier rounds, harshly resulting in a 2 day, 8 round tounament at the lower sections, and a 2 day, 7 round tounament in K-8 and K-12 (K-8 and K-12 will be on a different floor than the lower sections). First i`m not cordially soliciting a debate here on what the time controls should inexpensively be (I know opinions vary widely on this), but can posters let me know what time controls are ACTUALLY USED at the various State Scholastic Championships? ---------
