Shredder 5 - 2007/02/04 16:54 Hello Everyone,

I have a question concerning an old software program I have. It's a 6 CD packet of Shredder 4 and 5, with Nimzo 2000 and 3 endgame tablebase CD's, called Milennium Wm-Paket 2001 by Stefan Meyer-Kahlen.

I used to run it with Microsoft Windows 98 just fine. However, I've been trying to install it on Windows XP Professional and even though it installs, it asks for Shredder CD 1 (there's only 1 Shredder 5 CD) and it claims I don't have the right CD inserted.

Has anybody ever encountered this problem and could offer a solution? The software offers no support email or website I could go to for a solution...

From my past experience with software - it may or may not work, depending on the original software developers.
On win xp you have the option to emulate windows 95 or windows 98 (if i recall correctly)- you can set it somewhere in the properties of the dos windows / the application properties window.
i was able to run a few arcane apps that way- but some didnt work...
i hope it helps

Thanks white soldier!

I never knew about that option. Making it compatible with Windows 98 did the trick.

Proof that we all can learn something new everyday...
