Chess Project - 2007/02/05 15:22 Hello I am new to this site, however, I am a chess enthusiast/player. For this reason, I am going to do a demonstration speech for my public speaking class and demonstrate how to play chess/and some basic chess strategies. However, I am not just going to jump into showing each piece and what they do. I sort of want to draw interest in the game by showing why it is such a great game. I already have these points in my speech so far:
It has withstood the test of time
Demonstrates basics of military - stealth, striking, moving, protecting, quick advances, decoys, exc.

But for some reason, I just don't think that I have quite hit the point that I want to make. So I am here asking you why do you enjoy chess so much and why would you recommend this game to someone else? Thanks

Re:Chess Project - 2007/02/05 16:15 Could one reason be that it helps building patience? (In order to win one has to think ahead and be strategic and that takes time - not on a whimp).

I'm curious to know what other chessforumers here will say
