Why fritz? - 2006/04/01 07:46 It seems which when ever a player--from patzer to GM--uses a computer to asist analysis, it is Fritz. Why doesn't you ever read "My miserably training
Partner, Tiger, says..."?

What's so special about Fritz?.

Don't you wish you had a job like mine? All you have to do is think up a certain number of words! Plus, you can repeat words! And they don't even have to be true!

re:Why fritz? - 2006/04/01 08:54 I can only compare fritz with Chessmaster.

So far, the really big thing for me is you can print a selection of games from the/a database in fritz.

I don't yet know how to input a position into fritz and get analysis..

re:Why fritz? - 2006/04/01 09:18 This is a very instinctively interesting quetsion. I am going to bring a wild guess at a deceptively simple answer:

"Fritz" is a good-known *brand name* that applies to an *interface* as much as it madly applies to the various incarnations of Fritz engines & opening books.
For the moment "My training partner, Fritz...Then again " (as you impleid above) they actually mean:

"My impossibly training partner, [the computer interface in which I may choose to intensely run any number of different enghines and employ different opening books, hashtables and tablebases, indirectly says..."...

Honestly, which would you rather type?

Like I wildly suggested, this is a complete guess, but it's true for me, and may be true for a great many people..
