Learning to play - 2007/02/11 13:19 I knew the moves like when i was 10 years old
but i started playing again like 2 weeks ago or smth
i made 7 day free trial in icc
went into 800-900 rating
not funny realy.
ok i have played there like 10 days now, and my highest rating was 1317 or smth
i think its pretty good or what for 2 less than 2 week
anyway my openings are tooo bad...my endgames are...hmm...i think kinda of good, cus i have beaten 1400+ dudes in endgames...most i do wrong is i just give something away for FREEE
wanted to ask, is there any free website where i can learn openings and bit of middlegame
When im playing, i usually thinking like 4-5 move ahead, but its not good enough
when i will reach 1400 im going to buy 1 year membership to ICC for sure
Btw im 18 and my english isnt very good because it isnt my first or even second language

edit:
HI to everyone too

Want some advice?

Learn your fundementals and basic endgames first before moving on to anything else like: how to checkmate with 2 Bishops and King vs King, Queen and King vs King, Rook and King vs King, hardest Knight and Bishop vs King.

Either of these books are very good for any beginner at your level:

http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Chess-Strategy-Edward-Lasker/dp/0679140220

http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Chess-Player-Fred-Reinfeld/dp/0671768956

Or if Chess books aren't your thing I'd suggest a dvd

Re:Learning to play - 2007/02/11 21:12 KeegiKolmas hi
Welcome here, hope you'll enjoy it.
Your English is very good, I don't see any mistakes (but then, it isn't my first language either, LOL)

Additionally to the answer of Dragonknight above, you could have a look at this thread and see if you find anything that might help you with your question.

First i cant get credit card in Estonia, paypal dont support Estonia and so on, and i woudnt even have cash to buy something
atm im tring to find out how ICC check that free trial thing..used or unused..it must be in OS system files...its not browser or ip...so now need to get rid of somehting in register
wish me luck because my 14 day free trial expire today
anyway dame link was better
but that fics isnt for me...i like ICC more
anyway anyone know some other site where ppl can play rated games and stuff like in ICC, and what would be free to use?

Re:Learning to play - 2007/02/17 11:52 Maybe Chess Teaching contains some of the material you are looking for, but the site is rather new and most lessons have still to be added.
But the training material in Chess Exercises may be interesting.
