Fischer Random Chess in Chess Circle - 2007/03/17 23:31 Are there any plans to allow FRC/Chess960 games to be played in Chess Circle?

It would be a nice alternative!

Any FRC players out there?

Who's looking for a Chess960 game?

I'm sorry I not yet have an answer, but I promise I'll be back with it soon.

Fischer Random Chess in Chess Circle - 2007/03/20 21:49 j_carrillo_vii, I've inquired and it seems that it's problematic changing the existing chess game into chess960.

I hope you understand and will still enjoy our forum

Fischer Random Chess in Chess Circle - 2007/03/25 16:09 Dame,

Thanks for replying.

It's too bad that ChessCircle won't be offering FRC at this time.

I wish your chess site luck, and I hope that you can reconsider offering Chess960 in the future.

FRCEC is looking forward to promote FRC games at ChessCircle in a future.

Cheers,

Re:Fischer Random Chess in Chess Circle - 2008/02/22 16:36 I played it just a few times. Of course the good point is that you're outside books and opening theory and living on your ability - but there's a downside too. You notice the elegance and logic and purity of the real chess design. Simple things like the way the rooks are on the wings - but by castling they can work together, and the way bishops can give pins to knights on b4/b5 and g4/g5... In fischerrandom there is no logic to the piece placement and the resulting game is somehow artistically unsatisfying. It's like playing a board game like monopoly. Well that's my opinion.

I disagree, but respect your opinion.

The elegance of FRCEC (in addition of getting rid of Opening Book Theory) is that it allows players to use their ability and knowledge of chess tactics and opening principles without regard of the initial position.

Regular chess is just one of the 960 positions of FRC. The one position that lacks the potential to maximize players use of their chess tactics by making players too dependant on the opening theory that must be memorized.
