Rare book value? Anyone have an idea? - 2007/03/18 01:48Hi All, I have to sell a book by H Staunton, which is a 1st edition dated 1852 called "the chess tournament" It was written about the first tournament in 1851 in London. The cover is very poor, but it is 150+ years old.

Re:Rare book value? Anyone have an idea? - 2007/04/18 05:17ABE books, http://www.abebooks.com, had one listed at $650.00 +. There are many variables in pricing a book like that and I would look for a rare book dealer for an appraisal. It would be worth it.
Re:Rare book value? Anyone have an idea? - 2007/04/18 19:50Ty CRT, Yes I saw that, but their copy was a lot better than mine. My copy eventually went for just over £100, which isn't bad for what I got it for
