Poll: How many chess sets do you own? - 2007/08/05 11:43I have 3. One is a very old one which I love dearly, I have had ot for around 10 years now, and was the first chess set i ever received , the other is a magnetic travel one, and the 3rd is an elctronic magnetic one with a cpu opponent.

Also everyone I know knows that the easiest gift to get me (birthday, Christmas, etc...) is a chess set. It's just getter harder and harder for friends and family to find a type of set I don't already own

Re:Poll: How many chess sets do you own? - 2008/02/12 17:05Hi Dame, Well, I have a display cabinet with glass doors which I have about 20 sets displayed in. I probably have another 20 sets placed at "strategic locations" around my house. I have one "chess room" in which I have about 5 - 10 sets out at any one time. For the most part though, a lot of my sets are "collectables" that are stored away. I "rotate" them from storage to display periodically depending on my mood (sometimes I just "miss" certain sets and get bored with others ). I have a lot of travel sets (many of which I've constructed myself) which somehow seem to just be randomly placed throughout my house, car, office, coat pockets, etc... Sometimes when I'm cleaning out a closet, or my garage, or a cupboard, as I'll run across a set that I've forgotten about, and it's a great surprise, like finding a hidden treasure!

Poll: How many chess sets do you own? - 2008/02/13 16:19When I see a set somewhere I usually recognize if I have one like it or not. Sometimes though I have bought a set that I have because I think I've lost it, but then it turns up later and I have a duplicate. I sometimes have gaps in my collection because I've given sets away to family members, and then I'll usually replace then eventually when I've saved up enough money in my "chess fund". My father once said to me "you'd have a lot of money if you sold all these chess sets". I replied "yeah, sure, and then I'd go and buy a lot of chess sets!

Of course I could set up the vynal board over sized "joke large" pieces On my dining room table. And then play. It's a hoot with that board.
Thing is I can not just leave it there. Set up an all.
Guess what I actually meant is I Can't >DISPLAY the board/pieces.
Since joining this fine site. I use the one I've displayed for years all the time. And the one I would grab and go. Use it all the time now too. Cleared a spot next to the other one.
