Re:Stop Addictions - 2007/06/18 18:07 Chess can be an addiction, too. I certainly know something about that.

Re:Stop Addictions - 2007/06/20 15:04 I wouldn't say chess is an addiction. People who like to think a little depper than the avarege one will develope a passion i would say, more than an addiction. Hello everyone, by the way

It did get to talk about a presumably chess-related 'thing' - addiction (or passion)

Re:Stop Addictions - 2007/06/22 20:41 Hello LoanaAda, welcome here

You're right: it depends on whether it is taking up the time that should be spent on other activities such as obligations. As long as this doesn't happen one can safely assume it's "only" a passion

Re:Stop Addictions - 2007/06/22 21:16 As long as the other obligations we have are not getting hurt by it, it's ok, no?

Re:Stop Addictions - 2007/09/21 14:18 Chess is neither an addiction, nor a drug, it is a game for "people who like to think a little depper than the avarege" (IoanaAda)
For some people it's an addictive game because
humans are slaves of their success; if you win a game you would like to repeat that, possibly against a better opponent.
Life is another game, most addictive for most people, and nobody protests!
At some point one can like chess so much to the point of passion (being obsessed, geting "revelations" etc.
For most this is beneficial but, as in all upturns (e.g, "love"), and all sports (e.g, "all") accidents are not excluded.
