Castling - 2007/07/25 05:07 Is castling allowed if one of the pawns near the left and right edges have been moved?

Castling - 2007/07/25 18:26 You can castle as long as you satisfy 2(both) conditions:
1)the king and the rook you are going to castle with have not been moved.
2)there must be no opponent's piece attacking any of the squares the king will move along to castle.

Re:Castling - 2007/07/25 19:17 Thank you for your reply. In the attached game, Black was not allowed to castle. I cannot see why.

Re:Castling - 2007/07/27 02:03 judging from the diagram, castling is legal on both kingside and queenside.

The only thing preventing it would be the king had moved at any poin before the position on the diagram was reached..

Re:Castling - 2007/07/27 18:59 Thank you for your insight.

Neither the king nor (both of) the rooks had been moved.

So this looks like a software problem because at that point in the game, when I tried to enter o-o and o-o-o, I kept getting "the move ... is not legal" or something like that. Or maybe o-o is not the correct way to enter?

Re:Castling - 2007/07/27 19:22 instead of using 'o' try using '0'

eg: 0-0

Re:Castling - 2007/07/27 19:42 Well my only other suggestion is to type Kg8 (Kingside Castle) or Kc8 (Queenside Castle)

Re:Castling - 2007/10/10 16:20 Clear the move box. Click the e8 square and then click g8 square to castle king side. Or click e8 and then c8 to castle queen side. Then click the 'go' button.
