Well I teach chess to beginners and intermediate level players, and I have to tell you that I disagree. Playing against a chess program will do little if anything to improve your game. You will not gain in understanding of the game in chess this way.
But hey, if you enjoy it, then that's great. The goal is to enjoy yourself....not to improve. Some people get enjoyment from the process of becoming a stronger player. But if you're content to stay where you are and are having fun, then there is nothing wrong with that.
