64 bit programs - 2007/10/19 17:53
I guess I should be more specific. In studying the game of Chess, I let the program think for 3 days or more per move. I am currently using Deep Shredder 10 UCI but suspect it isn't what it was a few years ago. 540 (or so) kn/s is what it is running now which is about the same as it was in a 32 bit machine running the Deep Shredder 9 prog. I asked them about it and they said that is normal ... which suggests they made a serious change in the Shredder prog.
My best chess machine is one I built with AMD's Hammer Family processor (4500, I think) It has two gigs of RAM and 200 gigs of HD space.
