INTRODUCE YOURSELF - 2007/11/09 21:28Introduce yourself to this chess site. Let me start to introduce myself to you. I'm having been introducing myself in every sites.
I'm Ray Duque III. I live in New York City. I came to New York City from the Philippines in July 1970. I'm happily married for 33 years and counting. I have two grown up children and they are both working.
I used to appear in the Philippine Movies as a Bit Player in the 1960s. I like to Dance the Ballroom Dancing so much. I also like to play chess and used to play basketball when I was young, cooking, walking, play golf.
I'm now a retired Filipino-American and enjoying it. I visit the Philippines almost every year.
How about you? Please introduce yourself. Don't be shy.
INTRODUCE YOURSELF - 2007/11/14 10:03Hi, I generally don't like to talk about myself, but since no body knows me at this site, I might as well digress.
My name is Jacob Reid; I'm 21, and full-time college student. I'll be graduating with Associates in January and then I plan on transfering to universities. No, that's not a mistype... it's a multiple universities. I want to go two schools simultaneously so I can get my major in Astronomy in one and my major in writing in the other. It'll be fun, but I might do something else depending on what my girlfriend does. I love that girl, and I don't know if I can stand another year away from her.
I'm a very active memember in my community. I'm a member of my student government, which involves lots of volunteering and such. I also created a non-profit organization that focuses on raising funds to buy diapers for low-income families. It's cool, but it's a lot of work. And I also have a very strong passion for chess. I quit chess for about 9 years and only within the last 2 months have I returned to this magical game. I'm hooked now, and I'm learning things that I never thought possible when I played as a child. By understanding life, I'm now able to understand chess.
Re:INTRODUCE YOURSELF - 2007/11/16 12:30Here I am, too... Well, I'm chairman and founder of a Chess club. In the past I have been leader of the Lugano Chess team (Switzerland).
Today I engage in the promotion of Chess among the youth, as a volunteer activity.
As for my professional life, I lead a small firm of my own.
What I like about Chess: as in life, they represent opposites: black and white, alpha and omega, good and evil, and so on. No compromises on either side: you've got to choose where to stand. No place for luck.
I look forward to exchange ideas, experiences and whatever with all of you.
(A particularly kind greeting to the highly competent and nice Dame).
Re:INTRODUCE YOURSELF - 2007/11/16 16:46Wellll that's sweet of you, scaccopazzo May I welcome you to the forum and speak my wish that you will like it here
they represent opposites: black and white, alpha and omega, good and evil, and so on
......... ying & yang? opposites BUT keeping each other in balance, not able to 'live' without each other.. that sort of thing?
Re:INTRODUCE YOURSELF - 2007/12/05 20:21My name is Chuck Kinzie and I turned the "big 5-0" today!
I have been playing chess for about forty years, and love the game more now than ever before!
I played in my first chess tournament in 1973 and became a USCF Expert (barely!) in 1987 by earning a rating of 2002.
I used to play stodgy, boring chess. But now I play hyper-aggressive (unsound?) chess.
Chesscircle.net is one of my favorite websites. Great job, Dame! (And of course a big "thank you" to all of the wonderful contributors to these forums!)
Re:INTRODUCE YOURSELF - 2007/12/06 13:25Thank you Chuckychess I am happy you like this forum and would also like to thank you for contributing to it, since a forum without members like yourself is worth nothing
