A few suggestions? - 2007/11/28 05:13 First let me assure you that I like chesscircle.net much.
I joined only recently (sept 07) and have played a few enjoyable games and learned a few interesting things.
However there are a few things that maybe could be improved upon.
1) There are some 11000 members, but that is a deceptive number. It includes people who just sign up and than forget all about it. There should be a provision in the software that drops a member from the list automatically if he/she does not show any activity or interest within a certain time limit.
As an example I accepted a couple of challenges from newly signed up members and they never even made their first move on the board. Looking through the finished games list you can find lots of examples of this phenomenon.
2) There seems to be no option to resign as member.
3) Some parts of the software could be more user friendly. (e.g editing one's profile image). Somehow I think a bug has slipped in there. Try it out and if I am wrong let me know. There are other little hicups in the forum software (links not reponding etc) but I won't go into details here.
The actual presentations of games on the go is excellent and very easy for anyone to use (beginner and expert alike).
Happy playing!
Reica

Re:A few suggestions? - 2007/11/28 10:27 Note: I have just been notified by the software man (Yair Eshel) that there was a problem with disk space, which has now been fixed.

I guess all websites I got into have no option to resign or leave the group. I guess if the member becomes dormant (maybe in a year), something happens. But this is not unusual.

Re:A few suggestions? - 2007/11/28 17:14 Ehh Reica, I hope this won't stop you from continuing to participate?

There certainly are some things that can be improved, I hope at the beginning of the new year we can start working on them.

Meanwhile, don't let it stop you

Yes, I'm running Ubuntu (Linux) 7.10. Out of 'need', I'm also using a Windows XP partition to run some applications, including the ChessMaster. It might be best for many software companies to create applications also for Linux (particularly the DEB files). They think there are only 2 OSes (Windows and Mac).
