What music do you listen to when playing chess???? - 2007/12/05 23:26 Me it really does'nt matter. I can listen to anything but the one thing I can't concentrate to is rock. Other than that I guess I would have to say some oldies, r&b, snf domr country. So what is yours?

When I listen to music I listen to the oldies ,country,pop, especially Marty Robbins music.
Check out Marty's "Marty After Midnight" album.
or Marty's Hawaian songs of the Islands.

What music do you listen to when playing chess???? - 2007/12/23 01:56 I don't want to sound elitist or anything, just my personal taste since I was very young. Baroque and Classical, with some Romantic. Mendelssohn (sp?) is great while playing chess! Be careful with Bach, though; he tends to make my mind sever its earthly bonds. No I don't drink or anything else...

Re:What music do you listen to when playing chess? - 2008/02/29 09:19 The two major artists that I listen to when I play usually come down to Bob Dylan or Rush. Either way, I've always won when I've listened to them, and my midgame is so much more defined when they're playing.

Basically, I'm a prog-rock and folk music sort of guy when I play chess. The Mars Volta, Coheed & Cambria, Yes, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger... You get the picture.

If anybody has not heard Yes' "I've Seen All Good People," I recommend it as a fun song over the metaphor of chess.
