Underpromoting to Bishops - 2007/12/25 09:27 I know it hardly ever happens but is it legal to promote my pawn to a bishop that has been captured if it will mean i will have 2 bishops on the same colour square? (ie both my bishops will then be on black)

Hopefully that made sense to everyone. Please send your comments.

Underpromoting to Bishops - 2007/12/25 09:57 Whether your bishop was captured or not, you can opt to promote to a bishop--it's legal. It doesn't matter if you then will have two bishops on the same color. In any promotion, ANY piece can be chosen (no restrictions whatsoever).
