Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/04 23:19I invite players who experience discriminating practices of some sites having on line chess. I want to meet them to know them. What particular similarities we have that may be reason for the discriminations on these sites. Or there may be no discrimination at all but simple failure of service.
Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/05 11:28Landix, which sites are you talking about? That would make it easier for others having experienced the same.
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/06 07:46landix chess site could not see youre color and know youre religeon...so waht kind of discrimination are you talking? chess sites are for money making...pay youre subscription and theyll treat you well
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/06 08:28web sites can allow obscene attacks and objectionable gestures, without sanctions against the offender nor any other sanctions. On another site I beat someone who following the game sent links to offending pictures. The same pictures were on his profile page. The powers that be refused to take the pictures down, until a big ruckus was caused in the forums on the site. Needless to say I no longer play on that site.
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/07 09:25Well racism can be 'used' everywhere with everything - but I haven't encountered it yet anywhere, so am pretty curious to know where you guys experienced it.
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/08 03:12The picture was of three black ducklings, with one yellow duckling looking at them. A quote ballon above the yellow ducking says nigger. For some time chesshere didn't take down the picture, until aurguments over it in the forum got prety heated. The powers that be there finally said, okay to get everyone to stop fighting they removed the picture. That made the person who posted it madd. I stopped going there, so I don't know how it was finally resolved.
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/08 07:41okay guys...i play at icc, fics and gameknots.com and a frequent kibitzer at chessgames.com....im asian....i never experience any discrimination what so ever...now if the said website tolerate such racist post a message should be spread that we should avoid such site..maybe some racist admin who find delight to the post tolerate it.

Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/18 13:47I agree, moderators and administrators can not see everything, although they do their best. With things like this the best thing to do is to notify the moderator by pm so he can take action..
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/19 23:40Much ado about nothing. You go to a chess server to play chess, period. Be on the lookout for cheats who ply the servers using comps and various other tactics to win, including trash-yakking. That's all you have to worry about, if cheating is cause for worry. On the other hand, for YAKKING you go to yak forums and pour out yer blues, your blacks, your whites and your grays. You don't go to PLAYING sites, because there the intention is to crush the opponent and win, not to talk about the weather. As for me, sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me when I'm playing. Like Eli Wallach said: "If you're gonna shoot, shoot! Don't talk."
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/20 10:30It all doesn't matter. As I noted before, discrimination is not allowed here on whatever grounds. So, if it happens just notify me if I didn't catch on to it and I will take action.
Re:Discriminations in chess sites. - 2008/01/21 10:54No. I don't agree. If people look down on other people other than for their chess skills and express so much - I don't think this is the forum for them.
