Re:play chess online.inform our chess community - 2008/02/24 17:12i respect youre opinion but i started playing there 2 weeks ago...the site suffered some glitches since the upgrading but grandmaster amir bagheri assured us that changing for the better is underway. i like there new interface "beta"...i play there the 30 minute game against fellow fisches, grandmaster bagheri give me an opportunity to play with him and i used my favorite fischer sozin line but what can you do to a 2500 fide elo rated player?even aronian got his losses from amir bagheri.stiff competition on online chess is going on...online chess is the new generations way of playing the game, chessclubs membership was never the same since online chess started.

Any server that awards a win on time to a player with a bare king left, which is at total variance with the laws of chess, truly requires a severe overhaul and does not deserve patronage.
Re:play chess online.inform our chess community - 2008/02/25 00:46they did overhaul the system, as a non paying member im happy of what i could have at chesshere.com.....gameknots.com offered blitz play but its not a rated one and you cant have a copy of youre game, lets playchess.com is a good site but its poking on youre face where ever you face that you need to pay there membership to avail these and that.i do have complain always at these sites but after all is said i still play chess in these site...fics is truly an amzing blitz site for fishes till a class A chess player..ICC is a place where even though youre as low as 1500 elo sometimes you can take a crack playing against grandmaster and international master, for one international master with the handle of hail always find time playing with a fishes and i play with him few times...hes elo strentgh at blitz is 3100..mind you i was able to bring a game till mid game..hikaru nakamura would sometimes log in in a pool of player with rating 1700 and play the fishes..mind you an icc fish of 1700 could engage nakamura in a pawn ending in blitz only to blow away the game when few pieces is left on board...hikaru nakamura is a record holder at icc of the highest score at blitz with 3700 elo

Are you saying you didn't exceed the time limit but you lost on time? If true that sucks. Hopefully the new interface will eliminate this issue. Why not play one game after the update and see how it goes.

At first I wondered why my opponent would not want to resign. When my flag fell, that's when i knew why he wouldn't resign. The server promptly awarded him with a point. Simply outrageous and totally idiotic! And yes, I AM NOT GOING BACK THERE AGAIN, period. Not in a million years, and for as long as I can, I'm going to tell my chess-playing friends online to avoid that place, too! Like the plague, uhm-uhm.

Are you talking about "live chess" or "turn based chess" or both?
play chess online.inform our chess community - 2008/02/26 16:39more on these. icc training bot and problem bot is worth a hundred chess book puzzle.. these is a computer generated chess problem from games ranging from known chess matches till games within members of icc, masters and patzers, the chess puzzle is shown to you and the computer well guide you in solving the problem if you cant solve it. id seen grandmasters with an account at icc sharpening themselve using these bot. i had 2 games which i passed to sddrawcab the admin who check if the game is worthy enough to become a chess puzzle at icc, i still had no idea if he got it approved, icc likewise offers lectures with there chess fm, they choose best games played at tough tournament, corus and morelia for example and icc chessmasters analyze the game and present it to viewer members of icc, icc had live commentary on lives games and the admins i tell you are very carefull on erring patzers who made stupid comments, these chess discussion sometimes lead to chat fight and if you read what is posted youll die out laughing, coupled with dozens of stupid are smart kibitzers who really know whats goin on in the game, there move prediction are acknowledge by icc bot...
play chess online.inform our chess community - 2008/02/27 05:19one thing id noticed with chesshere.com after its overhaul few days ago is that its still a little bit slow.it take few second after i sealed a mating move before it ended the game officially and when you get the pgn of blitz game what reflect on youre elo point is the elo point of correspondence game. you still need to edit the elo score before posting it in youre blog site.despite all of these i still play at chesshere.com for all my fellow fishes swim there.
play chess online.inform our chess community - 2008/02/27 22:22computer playing at chess sites...i played a while ago at fics, there highest rated computer so far id seen playing is around 2200 elo stretgh and lots of computer playing at lower level elo , you would see in graph window those gray colored dots are computer seeking a challenge, the secret of playing against a computer is patience and always have fun, hikaru nakamura a well known computer player at icc would have a draw against computer in every 25 loss, but nakas computer opponent are rated above 3500 elo, naka is having fun playing against these monster and people too love watching him play, when nakamura play almost 300 people stop and watch him engage...ill post more of my observation on each different site im playing, if anything you want to write about the site where youre in please contribute so we know whats IN and whats getting OFFBEAT in online chess...internet chess is a new generation chess!!!!

It is true that a player can lose there even if the opponent has no more mating force. Another thing, the timer displaying the time left for the players is deceiving. After you've made a move the time for the opponent starts counting down. Now, even if you see that the opponent has consumed his time he can still move and it would turn out that it was your turn to move a very later time after that move of the opponent. So games at chesshere are won or lost that way; not necessarily depending on ones skill in chess but on the THING's inability of ability to do its processes.
