chaotic gambit - 2008/04/19 17:21As white I have played Danish Gambit many times. Sometimes I'm crushed, other times I win. But all of the games are very dramatic. I love it.
As black I am looking for a defence against e4,e5 nf3,nf6, bc4 - is there a gambit or something on the borderline? It could be useless at GM level but for us pawn pushers would provide some exciting games
Also as black what is a truly exciting defence against white 1. e4

Did you mean 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 ? If so 3...f5 looks interesting. If you meant 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bc4 then 3...Nxe4 or 3...d5 might be viable. I've played the Fred Defense in response to 1.e4 1.e4 f5 if 2.exf5 then 2...Kf7 I've won with it but recent results have been poor. Whether that's due to my play or weakness in the opening is not entirely clear. Something different at least. Good luck.

I've played the gambit in blitz, and I think I've won every game when White played 4 Nxe5. Unfortunately, after 4 c3, I don't think that Black has anything at all.
Re:chaotic gambit - 2008/05/02 00:24why not nf6? if ng5 then d5, ed and ND4 CRAZY GAME. if c3 then nxd5.
also you can play d6 and play f5 no matter what both openings are as crazy as danish. they won't work well against someone 1800 or above. so example d6, d4 f5, de, fe, ng5 d5.
Re:chaotic gambit - 2008/05/02 11:141.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 f5 is another dubious opening: the Rousseau Gambit, but unlike most gambits White's best continuation is to decline the gambit with a move like 4.d3 or 4.d4
