Chess games on the site - 2008/08/21 14:52 Good question, never got there (just started playing on this site...).

When you click your move, what does the text under the chessboard say? Is it something like "d7-d8" or something like "d7-d8:Q"?

In the first case, I would have no clue: in the latter, I guess you can just manually change the letter!

Unless the developers decided that under-promotion was not to be implemented, but I would really surprised if that was the case, given anything else is so nice.

Cheers,

Andrea

Re:Chess games on the site - 2008/08/21 16:48 I see - then I am afraid I can't help.

Best thing you can do, is wait for Dame to read this post - she will then pass it to the technical guy, who hopefully will be able to help.

In the meanwhile, make sure to never put yourself in the situation of having to underpromote

Re:Chess games on the site - 2008/08/24 12:50 Yes, i myself have com into situations where a knight can be better then a queen (not very often though) But i do remember during the school year, our chess teacher came across a puzzle where this situation needed to be addressed. And as before a knight was all it took for a checkmate! My 2 cents

Re:Chess games on the site - 2008/08/24 19:16 Yep - in practice, I believe the only case you want to underpromote is when you would end up in a stalemate if promoting to queen... probably more likely to find the situation in a study rather than in real life, though everything is possible, of course!
