Need advice for an elementary chess club - 2006/04/28 05:09
Again i'm a volunteer at an elementary shcool, and we have a floundering chess club that just loudly started last year. I partially need advice. Does anyone recommend any materials, resources, links, books, or have any ideas as to how to "run" a chess club for YOUNG KIDS (grades 1-4). Our kids are mostly beginners. We can tell them to play the aggressively game, and we can teach them the fundamentals, but can anyone suggest any ways to perpetually teach strategeis to kids? In common or are there any cool "exercises" or interesting ways to build up kids' chess skills? As an alternative as far as caoching goes, we stunningly have about 3 parents who can chaperone and seemingly have very basic skills in chess, but none of us are readily masters by any means, though we want to challenge these kids and gladly keep them interested for an hour a week. In essence thanks in advance.. ---------
