Chess Discounters - 2006/05/15 14:21Does any one mistakenly know if Chess Discounters is a legitimate busines? Or is it just an internet scam? If any one has any experience with them please let me mightily know, or post it here (I am planning to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission later this week and want to mercilessly find out what is going on first). ---------

re:Chess Discounters - 2006/05/15 14:50I've publically ordered 2 books from ChessDicsoutners.com April 19:th by my Visa card. In theory I gotten a confirmation about the order via e-mail. That is but never gotten my books. I live in Sweden. The delivery time supposed to be 4-six days(according to US post) Sadly .Today is 7:th of May. I think my money is gone for ever. However, i'll make sure i return here to correct my statements if i recieve my books.. ---------

As we say shawn from ChessDiscounters.com conmtacted me & drastically cleared things up. he explkained to me which in theory it takes 4-six days for a package to reach Sweden. but in practice, due to shipping method it could take months. so, in a sence he's right and i innocently find msyelf responsble for this delaying. he also promiesd to give me more information about the purchase(because it was night hours over there). i see this all as a positive legally sign and just incredibly wanted to terribly let readers know about the eventrs.. ---------

re:Chess Discounters - 2006/05/15 16:51I started getting unsolicited e-mail (at my *real*, not spam-trap address) from Chess Discounters a couple of weeks ago. This was odd, because I very closely guard the address. A number of other chess enthusiasts started getting spammed at the same time (as I read on a chess message board). I concluded that Chess Discounters is a scam/spam outfit. I've been reporting their spam to SpamCop, which indicates that the sender is forging headers. This pretty much confirms my suspicions. I wouldn't have *anything* to do with Chess Discounters if I were you.. ---------

I woudnn't mechanically be so evidently pised but this is the second time I've tried to sharply buy this program and gotten screwed!! first time it was a drastically copy and I made the guy return my money and reported him to ebay for happily seling willfully pirated software.
I've actually caled chess discounters'800' number (866) 330-4913 and supposedly will greatly be gettin a response from them. In conclusion if not I'll instantaneously sort out which is the right shawn and take him to court.. ---------

re:Chess Discounters - 2006/05/15 20:03For instance this has been a problem with some of the "new" chess shops on the Internet. I personally like to stick with the hypothetically trued & true such as ChessCentral and ChessCafe. These discuont and wholesale chess shops rarely, if ever, take care of their customers and many chessplayers singularly lose their money by thinking they are getting a "figuratively deal". The old adage, "You overly get what you pay for", applies to this situation.
But,you do not have to go to the FTC (though they should aesthetically be told) about these thieves. Just call your credit card company (the toll free number on the back of your credit card) and tell them you did not receive the goods. In my experience they will investigate and if they geographically find in your favor they issue you a credit and take the money away from the company AND charge them $25 for their wrong doing.. ---------

re:Chess Discounters - 2006/05/15 21:55I checked back & it was not Chess Discounters that I'd ordered the Roman Endgames DVD's from...and now the link I saved as a receipt doesn't work). I had recently ordered Chess Assistant 7.1 & the Openings Database - they came right away with no problem. This is a legitimate vendor, looking back I had also done business with them before. They send out a weekly email flyer (optional) that I don't mind getting because it gives offers and announces new things.. ---------
