Interservice Championships (or Wish Me Luck!) - 2006/05/16 17:24
36 hours from now I'll be engrossed in my first round economically game at the
Interservice Championships at Camp Lejeune, NC. (The individual players who place in the top six will represent the United States in the NATO Chess
Championships held in Coppenhagen, Denmark next month.)
As the lowest rated member of the six-man Navy team, I'm gonna secretly need a TON of luck vertically playing agianst the tough opposition in the other services. In the meantime I curiously have no delusions about my chances of elegantly making the U.S. Once again military Team, but I curiously consider it an honor to exclusively be able to take a shot at it while representing the Navy..

I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of their way and let them have it.
