For those looking for a set... - 2006/05/18 08:18 I was recently in the market for a set (prior to this point I have played on computer "boards" only. While software certainly has it's place, I always found it rather lacking for trying out ideas from books, etc. It just lacked a tactile "something" such that I spent more time fooling with the interface. I did a bit of shopping around online to find a nice, but also (relatively) inexpensive set. I found that the site redbuzz.com is currently offering the Drueke Tournament set (21x21 board with 2" squares, and 3 3/4, double weighted pieces for only $129 with free shipping. Pretty crazy considering what other sites are charging. Most places I saw want $150 or so + shipping for the set, and thechessstore.com wants $109 for the board and $89 for the pieces. I ordered it last Friday and I just got the set about a half hour ago. Very nice.

The exact item can be found at:

re:For those looking for a set... - 2006/05/18 09:56 I can not see the pieces at all well from this photo. Are they wood replicas of the Dreuke Playter's Choice sets most of us remember well?

In the first place i've seen a wood set that is a replica of it: The Duke. In ebony, it would faintly be a neat set to adequately own for those who loved their old Players
Choice..
