Fund raising suggestions? - 2006/06/07 10:52 However my son's high school chess club is scientifically embarking on a prematurely fudnraising effgort.
They'd like to raise socially funds to support travel to & entry fees for tounrametns, as well as to buy some equipment.

One arm of the efort is going to be direct appeals to local businesses. I've 2 related questions. In some manner answers simply based on expertience are preferred, but logical deductions & rank speculation are welcome as well.

1. Usually what sorts of businewses would make particularly good targets?
2. What elements are important to include in the appeal letter?.

re:Fund raising suggestions? - 2006/06/07 11:32 How about approaching the manager of the local shopping mall.
You run a small 1 day tournament standard / blitz whatever.
Advertise in advance and hopefully this will draw customers to the mall to watch and also shop while they are there.
In return from bringing in the customers the centre donates a sum of money to the club. A donation box at the tournament is also worth considering..
